Education with Contrasting Aspects

In different aspect education has comparisons & contrasts in various countries. They are many differences between education in Iran and Canada. First of all the teachers in Iran are very serious; they never give an example about themselves. Also, it is more formal and polite to use family name and person’s title to address people. For example: Mr. Victor or Dr. Victor. The post secondary education system in Iran is not varied. It only involves university, but in different majors. Second, access to university is difficult in Iran; the national exam determines the students, so in high school they have to study hardly. In other hand during the semesters students do not study very much, and they do not have several exams; most of the time it includes midterm exam and final exam, so the students just study for exams. In addition the education philosophy in Iran based on teacher. In general the students fallow the teacher’s ideas, and they focus on the references that their trainers recommend them. They do not have many discussion sections, and students do not express their ideas and they do not discuss about their opinions.

However in Canada education is different. The teachers give an example about their life or their experiences. Also, the students use first names very freely even call their trainers such as Michael. Further more in Canada the students choose their major themselves. There are several kinds of post secondary school like university, college, vocational. Also there is no national exam in Canada to attend post secondary schools, but they have study more and more because they have a lot of exam, quiz, assay, term paper, midterm exam and final exam. Another difference is about education philosophy. In Canada learning is the responsibility of the individual learner. The students talk about their ideas. They discuss about the different opinions, so they have to research and collect the information that support their minds. In other words educations in different countries have many contrasts such as Iran and Canada.

  1. Atefah, I didn't like the exam system in the education system. The entance to any college or university should be without exam, in my opinion.
